I Flipped my Classroom!!! |Florence Waller

Flipping the Classroom
In my lessons, I sometimes request my students to preview the topic, which will be covered in class during the following week, at home. I guide them on what to look for and where they could find the relevant information.

I also encourage them to engage their parents and older siblings in their learning. As expected not all students or parents made the effort or the time to preview the upcoming topic resulting in two distinctive groups being formed. The group, which has worked at home and benefited of the guidance and encouragement from a knowledgeable person resulted in greater understanding and performance during the lesson compared to the group that attempted the preview on their own.

This teaching method is very fruitful in my practice and I have noticed that this teaching style entices my students to provide support and feedback to each other in learning new material as well as asking questions freely.

You should try it. Go on Youtube, there are a lot of examples to look at.
