Well this post title certainly gets your attention. Click on the picture below and find out what Professor Stephen Heppell is on about. (If the video doesn't work click HERE)
At Royal Dubai School we can't replicate the building design in this video. However, the building is not the answer. You can have a Modern Learning Environment (MLE) in a barn if you have the right people, doing the right things and using the right tools. Think about the MLE concept - is it possible for our classrooms to be MLE's or maybe our year groups? Are we/you already doing aspects of this? If so what are the next steps? You can't stand still with this - how will you and/or your team enhance this further?
Last year I saw examples of outstanding peer to peer student collaboration happening where Y5/6 would go to a Y2/3 class and work 1:1 with the children. The learning 'went through the roof' - so did fun, excitement, empowerment and a sense of value and well-being. This needs to be a consistent feature of the learning that happens at our school.
In this video clip, Stephen Heppell used the statement "Seducing kids to be great learners" - he is so right!
Those of you who come to coaching with me, make sure you have had a good think about this clip and how it might apply to your learning area.
